La Traction, an adventure of enthusiasts

First and foremost, La Traction is a team of volunteer enthusiasts who have been restoring, maintaining and operating vintage railway equipment on the narrow-gauge network of the Chemins de fer du Jura (CJ) since 1993.

Three partners work closely with each other in this great adventure.

- The non profit-making limited company La Traction SA owns the depot and the vintage rolling stock which it puts into traffic.

- The society La Traction SE comprises the volunteers, who work at all levels of activity of La Traction SA. There are active and support members.

- The Chemins de fer du Jura market La Traction’s vintage trains to the public. An agreement defines the relationship between La Traction SA and the CJ, who also have their own Belle Epoque train for tourist charter.
